A Living Mosaic Practice

Although much of my creative life is now devoted to writing, my mosaic practice remains alive, evolving, and central to who I am as an artist.

The shift into writing hasn’t replaced the work — it has deepened it.

Writing has opened new ways of seeing, feeling, and understanding the world, and that clarity naturally moves into the mosaics I create with glass, stone, and light. I don’t make as many pieces as I once did, but the ones I do make carry a different kind of presence, focus, and intention.

Because of this, I take on commissions more selectively — not out of exclusivity, but out of respect for the time, energy, and devotion each piece requires.

If you feel genuinely called to have a mosaic created for your home, business, or sacred space, I’m open to exploring the possibility with you. I’ve learned that the best commissions begin with resonance — a shared feeling, a spark, a sense that the piece wants to exist.

If you feel that beginning in you, reach out.
I’d love to see what we can create together.

WHAT A COMMISSION FEELS LIKE

A commissioned mosaic is a partnership.

You bring the spark — a vision, a symbol, a story, a color palette, or simply a feeling —
and I bring decades of craft, hand-cut glass, and the patient devotion of building beauty shard by shard.

Each mosaic is created with intention, presence, and a sense of wonder for what the materials want to become.

The result is a luminous, one-of-a-kind artwork made specifically for you —
a piece that feels alive, anchored, and full of color and light.

THE COMMISSION PROCESS

1. Inquiry & Visioning

You share what you’re dreaming of: colors, themes, size, budget, timeline — or just a vibe.
We talk through the vision and clarify the direction.

2. Sketches & Concepts

I create one or more visual concepts (sketches, mockups, reference forms).
This is where the design begins to reveal itself.

3. Materials & Palette Selection

From iridescent glass to marble, mirror, and smalti —
we choose a palette that matches the energy and tone you want the piece to hold.

4. Creation

I hand-cut and place every shard with care and precision.
You’ll receive occasional updates so you can witness the unfolding of the piece.

5. Delivery / Installation

Local delivery and installation are available in Santa Cruz and the Bay Area.
Shipping for smaller works is available worldwide.
