Miles Mathews creates hand-cut glass visionary mosaics, paintings and murals that bridge worlds: the spiritual and the material, ancient wisdom and contemporary culture, older generations and an emerging new era and New Now consciousness upon us.

Rooted in my backgrounds of fine art, contemporary media, and the study of human culture, I draw from eclectic spiritual traditions, indigenous wisdom, popular imagery, and the visual language of contemporary life. My mosaics bring these seemingly incongruent influences into conversation, creating works that are at once playful, reverent, entheogenic, and deeply material.

In my work, glass becomes both medium and metaphor, reflecting the way cultures, generations, beliefs, and experiences are assembled into meaning. The resulting works inhabit a space between folk and fine art, sacred object and contemporary icon.

At the heart of my work is a return to the innocence and wonder of the child—the feeling that anything is possible; and that reality extends far beyond what we can readily see or explain. Rather than being an authority on deeper themes of life such as ascension, unity, peace, non-duality, and spiritual awakening, I approach them with a sense of play, wonder, curiosity, and openness. Thus spirituality does not become something distant or absolute, yet the work begins to carry a childlike remembrance of something already known: a felt sense of connection to the sacred, to one another, and to a mysterious vastness beyond.

Through my practice, I see myself less as a creator of fixed answers and more as a cultural bridge-builder using the ancient language of mosaic to speak to a rapidly changing ever becoming world.
